Distinctive: The Bacardi logo has a distinctive origin - Doña Amalia, the wife of Bacardi’s founder Don Facundo, spotted a colony of fruit bats in the rafters of the first BACARDÍ distillery. Symbolizing good health, family unity and good fortune, she knew the bat was the right choice to symbolize the brand.
The palm tree named El Coco was planted by Don Facundo's son at the original BACARDÍ distillery on February 4, 1862, in Santiago de Cuba. Withstanding a distillery fire, five earthquakes, and countless hurricanes, El Coco came to symbolize strength and resilience of the Bacardi family and their company.
